Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a new diversion road in Baguio City will soon provide another alternate route the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
“Soon, motorists can use the new 2-lane Baguio-Bauang Road to Quezon Hill Road 1 as a new route to Baguio’s Central Business District and La Trinidad Benguet, easing traffic along Quirino Highway or Baguio-Bauang Road,” said Secretary Villar.
The ongoing Baguio-Bauang Road to Quezon Hill Road 1 Project involves construction of a concrete road with a total length of 1.2-km, slope protection, and 18-meter steel bridge with a total project cost of P69-million funded under 2019 Regular Infrastructure Program.
In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Baguio City District Engineer Rene Zarate said that the project, which is being implemented in three (3) phases, is now at its second phase that is set for completion by August 2020.
The third and last phase of the bypass road project which involves connecting it to the national road will be undertaken by DPWH Baguio City District Engineering Office in 2021.
“DPWH is one with the local government in implementing various infrastructure projects aimed at improving mobility and connectivity in the highly urbanized city of Baguio,” added Secretary Villar.
