THE LION CITY OF SOUTH LUZON
The City of Santa Rosa has lived up to its symbol – the lion. Its economy is vibrant and booming, and, so to speak, roaring like a lion.
It is one of the fastest growing economies in the Philippines. From a fourth-class municipality in 1986, Santa Rosa became a first-class town in 1993, and was subsequently converted into a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 9264 passed by the Philippine Congress on March 10, 2004. Santa Rosa officially became the 101st city in the Philippines on July 10, 2004.
In just three years since its conversion into a city, Santa Rosa has distinguished itself, gaining reputation for many of its economic successes. From an income of less than Php 600 million in 2003, the City’s income breached the one billion mark in 2007, placing it among the Billionaire’s Club of local government units in the Philippines.
