Katinko heiress Melissa Yeung Yap joins Discovery World board
Discovery World (DW) led by bilyonaryo John Y. Tiu Jr. has tapped a multi-faceted, social entrepreneur as its new independent director.
Melissa Yeung Yap will sit on the board of DW starting December 1. She replaced Cellprime Distribution president Eric S. Yu who resigned last October due to “other professional commitments.”
She will be a member of the corporate governance, board risk oversight, and audit committees.
Yap is the CEO of Greenstone Pharmaceutical, maker of the wildly popular Katinko ointment.
She is a graduate of Ateneo de Manila University where she is likewise a part-time professor for Development Studies. She has a Masters in Entrepreneurship from the Asian Institute of Management and is currently completing her Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Yap – the founder of Got Heart and Earth Kitchen – is on the board of Peace and Equity Holdings, Inc., St. Jude College and Republican College. She will soon join the board of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts – National Commission on Art Galleries (NCCA-NCAG).
