Agribusiness Portfolio
The Agribusiness Portfolio is a publication that serves as a guide in starting an agribusiness. It contains basic information regarding registering an agribusiness, tapping available credit facilities, technology, technical trainings, as well as establishing linkages in all the stages of the agriculture value chain.
The Agribusiness Portfolio is published under the banner of the Agri-Negosyo Para sa OFWs Program of the Sub Task Group on Agribusiness (STGA) of the Task Group on Food Security (TGFS). The STGA is composed of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA) , the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The STGA aims to address the urgent need for sources of livelihood and employment of returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and to transform traditional agriculture to a more modern, high-value agribusiness.
The government requires all enterprises, regardless of size, type and form, to secure a permit before it can do business. An unregistered enterprise is not counted within the economic mainstream. It is part of the underground economy and usually, cannot avail of support and assistance for businesses. Registering a business is your ticket to opportunities that will give you access to the different programs being offered by the government and private institutions to help starting agripreneurs like you.
